What’s the best piece of advice another bartender ever gave you?

Years ago, I was taught to take the time to learn as much as I could from everyone and anyone in our field. You could learn just as much from a dive bar bartender as you could from a high-end mixologist if you just took the time to watch and listen. In addition, spirits reps, chefs, bakers and other hospitality professionals can offer mountains of information and potential learning if you allow yourself the time to ask questions and engage.

What kinds of ideas and approaches do you hope speakers bring to the BCB Brooklyn 2026 Education Program?
I deeply and profoundly enjoy when a speaker puts time into the art & craft of public speaking. Anyone can read crowded text to the crowd off of a slideshow, but putting in the time and effort to better engage and pull in the attention and interest of those sitting down is another thing entirely.

Which tech tools truly improve consistency?
Although it is far from cutting edge high technology, I love utilizing inexpensive but handy kitchen tech like sous vide machines, refractometers and scales when doing prep. They are just minor additions that most craft bars have today, but using them correctly and efficiently can make all of our lives so much easier when preparing for a shift.
