Bar and Beverages trade show will feature handcfrated beverages brands

The most important bar and spirits event, BCB São Paulo, which will take place on June 17th and 18th, 2019, at Expo Barra Funda, in São Paulo, has already confirmed its first four exhibitors. Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado, organizer of the event, hopes to attract more than 100 exhibiting brands and an audience of three thousand visitors from the bars and beverages sector. The brands WIBA!, BEG Gin, Hof and Santo Mel already confirmed their presence.

The common point among them, besides their factories located in the interior of the state of São Paulo and recent foundation, is the use of artisanal methods in the stages of production of its products. "We wanted to emphasize the importance of rescuing tradition in the beverage preparation process and show that, at the same time, it is possible to innovate and offer a quality product", explains Paulo Octavio Pereira de Almeida, Reed Exhibitions vice presindent.

Meet the brands

In 2014, the entrepreneur Wilson Barros founded WIBA!, known for its cachaças of diverse flavors, that can be tasted with pieces of fruits and seasonings, among other ingredients. "WIBA! was created to be a reference in the market not only for its quality craftsmanship, but for the fun and ludic way to drink cachaça", says Wilson. The idea is to encourage new forms of consumption of cachaça, rediscovering the pleasure of this drink, through a product that values tradition and sustainable practices in its production.

Wilson believes that BCB São Paulo will be a stage that will benefit the creation of strategic relationships for the business. "We’ll be able to make more contacts, increase our sales and, consequently, increase our customer portfolio. Trade fairs like BCB help spur new business across the beverage industry chain of stakeholders, especially to the B2B sector, who are most responsible for spreading ideas and new products to the end consumer ", he says.

Another brand of cachaça that will be exhibiting is Santo Mel, created in 2015. The products of its portfolio, based on sugar cane, are part of the mixed drinks group, also called composites or aperitives. The highlight product on their booth at BCB São Paulo will be the Cambu Santo, an awarded drink with the Silver Medal in Expocachaça 2018. Made with cachaça and concentrate of cambuci fruit, typical of the Atlantic Forest, its proposal is to transmit sensations, making enough the flavor of cambuci, which was supplied to Santo Mel through a small-scale incentive project.

Vinicius Martins de Lima, commercial director of Santo Mel, comments: “We participate in several fairs, but we have a special expectation regarding BCB São Paulo. It’s an opportunity of visibility for our brand, since we will be in contact with people of the segment and we will be able to show the high quality product that we produce. Our wish is to diminish the negative associations normally made to cachaça and to show that it is a Brazilian product in its essence”.

Hof Microdistillery also confirmed its presence. The brand's activities began in 2013. Its owner and master distiller, Martin Braunholz, decided to focus on a boutique concept. As a result, Hof brings together the contemporary to the handcrafted production, with high standard and in small productions batches carefully prepared. Among its products are numbered bottles inspired by premium cachaças, gin, liqueurs and spirits prepared with local ingredients. The London Dry version of Minna Marie gin, produced by the brand, was awarded the Double Gold Medal at the Brussels World Competition in the Brazil 2018 Edition.

“Our main expectation by participating in a prestigious international event such as BCB São Paulo is to consolidate our brand and product line, as well as to gain visibility among the main players of the beverage sector and also establish contacts that can boost our business not only in the Brazil, but also abroad”, says Martin.

BEG Gin was created by three childhood friends - Arthur Flosi, Felipe Santoro and Thiago Luz - who used to meet to test botanics and distillation methods in a small copper alembic. The brand stands out for its genuinely handcrafted national gin, with the British essence of juniper, coriander seed and angelica root, combined with exclusively Brazilian botanists of pitangueira and elderberry leaves. The drink has already been awarded in international competitions, such as The Gin Master 2018, where it won the Gold and Silver Medals, as well as having won Gold this year at Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (Belgium), that since 1999 awards the best distillates in the world.

“BCB São Paulo is an opportunity to establish more direct contact with retail professionals. This is a time-demanding job, and in meetings with industry clients, for example, they do not always have the chance to taste our products because the focus is on the negotiations. At the event, it will be possible to show the quality of what we produce and the concept behind it, in addition to all the care we have during the preparation stages”, says Arthur, master distiller of the brand.
